Description
QUANTOFIX® EDTA is for the fast and reliable determination of
EDTA (Ethylendiaminetetraacetate), NTA (Nitrilotriacetic acid) and other complexing agents in solutions. The easy Dip & Read procedure provides a reliable result within 15 seconds.
Complexing agents such as EDTA or NTA are frequently used as
additives in washing and cleaning agents, cosmetics, the photo and paper industries.
Since such additives are poorly biodegradable, the dosage used must be carefully measured.
QUANTOFIX® EDTA is ideal for checking the concentration. The absence
of such complexing agents can also be established with these test strips.
In proteomics labs EDTA is also used to regenerate Ni- and Co-precharged chromatography columns (HPLC columns) which are used to purify recombinant proteins. Prior to the successive analysis, QUANTOFIX® EDTA is used to control if EDTA has completely rinsed out. This may dramatically reduce the rinse time and therefore increase the throughput and the capacity.
The following complexing agents can also be tested with this method:
– Nitrilotriacetic acid (NTA, commercial name: Titriplex® I)
– 1,2-Cyclohexylenedinitrilotetraacetic acid (commercial name: Titriplex® IV)
– Diethylenetriaminepentaacetic acid (commercial name: Titriplex® V)
– Bis(aminoethyl)-glycolether-N,N,N‘,N‘-tetraacetic acid (commercial name: Titriplex® VI)
Conversion factor: 1 mg/L EDTA = 0.7 mg/L NTA
Directions for use
Dip the test strip into the sample for 1 second. Shake off excess liquid. Wait 15 seconds. Compare test field with the colour scale. If EDTA is present, the test field turns orange to yellow depending on the concentration. Should EDTA not be present, the test field turns red.
